2019 has been a solid year for LOBB + PARTNERS with working on several new build projects in Europe and North Africa as well as consulting to numerous forward-thinking golf clubs in the Surrey/ Berkshire region who respect the value of good design advice.

Below are some of our monthly highlights:

January: Attended the annual BTME event at Harrogate in the latter part of the month. We also had ongoing construction projects at Burhill GC, with contractors Profusion Environmental and Worplesdon GC to attend to – sometimes in the snow.

February: Made a site visit to The Point at Polzeath in Cornwall to plan the construction of the new 7th hole. Works commenced to the 16th hole at Huntercombe GC with contractor FJ Lovell – and we started an Instagram account. Not sure if this is newsworthy or not but it is kind of fun detailing some of our travel adventures. Check it out @lobbpartners

March: We attended the Alps Tour Pro Am for the newly opened NEWGIZA course in Cairo. World class photographer Kevin Murray and golf travel writer Chris Bertram accompanied Tim Lobb on the trip. A trip to Portugal and Dundonald with Darwin Escapes continued the travel theme for the month. US golf architect, Drew Rogers spent a week with Tim playing some of the heathland classics and channelling the great Willie Park Jnr.

April: Our new 18 hole course in Ankara starts to re activate after the winter shutdown and went for site visit to inspect re mobilisation. We continued our analysis and design works to HS Colt’s – Tandridge GC.

May: At the annual general meeting for the European Institute of Golf Course Architects Tim Lobb was elected as Vice President of the organisation with Christophe Stadler becoming President. Paris was the venue and was host of over 130 attendees. Two site visits to our Ankara project where contractor Golf Tek were working hard to finish the course despite the terrible storms.

June:  The Springs GC is fully grown in and enjoying happy golfers to the recently renovated L+P course in 2018. Site visits to Ankara and Soma Bay in the month capped off a fairly busy time. Managed to play games at Huntercombe, The Richmond, Hanbury Manor at The Marriott International Golf Day and a round at Tandridge in the Men’s Invitational.

July: On the hottest day of the year we held our annual golf day at Burhill GC. Forty players competed for the Thomson Cup with Mark Ganning winning out with 38 points. A wonderful venue and event – those that competed deserve a medal in that heat. Visited Da Nang in Vietnam for Gavin Reid 50th party event and got to visit some of the new courses in the region. The region will be a world power on the golf tourism scene.

August: August is traditionally holiday time at our office and I got to spend some time with family at the wonderful Point in Polzeath in Cornwall and a week’s cruising on the Norwegian Fjords. Played at Perranporth GC, which was one of the best golf experiences of my life. We also met Erik Anders Lang in Cairo to help shoot his Adventures in Golf show, featuring NEWGIZA.
