Tim Lobb recently visited the stunning new 18 hole golf course being developed within sight of the famous Giza Pyramids just west of Cairo. The NEWGIZA development is over 500 hectares in size and is a complex development including residential, retail, sports, education and medical components with an 18 hole championship golf course laid out by Thomson Perrett & Lobb.

The recent site visit was focused on finishing works to holes 6, 7, 8 and preparing them for grassing.

Below are a series of photos of the stunning short par 3, 6th hole that was approved for grassing while onsite.

An incredible amount of work has gone into making this hole. The tees were on very steep ground and had to be carefully shaped in. The hole measure approximately 140 yards and plays downhill into an old quarry excavation. We made sure that the excavation remained part of the golf hole as it tells an important story to the history of this site.

Dag, Mohammed and the finishing guys have worked super hard to blend this green complex into the surrounds. We are just thrilled with the way this has come out.

We are truly blessed with some stunning par 3′s at NEWGIZA. The property is just an incredible canvas to create a very special golf course.

We have been working on NEWGIZA for some time now but it is definitely worth the wait. A planned soft opening is scheduled for later this year and we cant wait to unveil it to the world. It really will be a very special golf course.

Thanks to Dag Brown, all the guys on the construction crew, our wonderful clients and the superb support team in the NEWGIZA technical and design offices. A once in a lifetime project.

See you on the first tee….soon.
