The historic Blackmoor Golf Club in Hampshire, southern England, has appointed Lobb + Partners to conduct a course review and advise particularly on its bunkering.
Blackmoor, which originally opened in 1913, was designed by the great architect Harry Colt, at the height of his pre-WW1 powers – at around the same time he worked at Blackmoor, he was designing St George's Hill, Pine Valley, Puerto da Hierro in Madrid and the Eden course at St Andrews. Interestingly though, the course had only twelve holes at this time – Colt returned after the war and completed the full eighteen holes, which opened in 1924.
